Q: 日本への旅を振り返ってみてください。ライブ前には、「ファンの反応はどうだろう？静かなのかな？モッシュするのかな？アンコールってしてもいいの？」といった疑問があったと思います。でも実際は、みんながいい意味で興奮していて、集中して観てくれていました。
あれから1週間が経った今、初めての日本公演について、期待と実際の体験の間にどんなギャップがあったと感じますか？日本のファンについて、一番驚いたことは何でしたか？

ジェームス（Vo）
A: 唯一、予想していたのは「拍手の後は静かになる」ということだけでした！この点は他の国のオーディエンスとは大きく違っていて、でもそれがとてもクールで、日本ならではの雰囲気を感じられました。
モッシュピットも最高だったし、エネルギーは本当に電撃のようで、叫び声や歓声の大きさは今までで一番だったかもしれません。
日本でライブをすることにこれまでにないほどワクワクしていましたが、それでも実際はその期待を遥かに超えるものでした。日本のファンは本当に素晴らしくて、ライブでのエネルギーと熱気はまるで夢の中の出来事のようでした。
ライブのあとにみんなに会えたのも嬉しかったし、一人ひとりが時間をかけて並んでくれて、挨拶や写真を一緒に撮ってくれたことが本当に心に残っています。いただいたプレゼントの中には、とても美しくて心のこもったものもありました。まさに信じられないくらい素晴らしい夜でした。
東京には4日間しかいませんでしたが、その間にすっかり恋に落ちてしまいました。果てしなく広がる街の魅力はもちろんですが、それ以上に「ここが自分の居場所だ」と感じられるような、めったにない感覚を味わえたんです。
今回の旅で、日本の魅力のほんの一部しか見られていないと実感していて、今はもう一刻も早く戻って、東京や日本中の伝説的なフェスや大きな会場で演奏したい気持ちでいっぱいです。
愛と感謝を込めて。僕たちの初めての日本公演、そして初来日をこんなに特別なものにしてくれてありがとう。これからも日本でライブをするたびに、その感謝の気持ちを全力で返していきます。

ダミアン・トゥイット(Gt)
A: 以前から日本のオーディエンスは心の広い、寛大な方々だと聞いていましたが、それでもなお、こんなにも温かい歓迎を受けるとは思っていませんでした。こんなに遠く離れた場所からの歓迎に、本当に驚きました。ショーの間中、彼らの情熱的で時には野性的なエネルギーには、とてもいい意味で驚かされました。
日本での旅の始まりとして、これ以上望めないほど素晴らしいものとなりました。すぐにまた戻ってきて、もっとたくさんの曲を演奏できることを、とても楽しみにしています！

ガブリエル・パスカル・ブレイク(Ba)
A: 日本に来るのは初めてだったので、どんな感じなのかをかなりオープンな気持ちで受け止めていました。日本の観客は控えめで静かに鑑賞する、というような話も聞いていましたが、実際には喜びとエネルギーが爆発していました。それはまるでダブリンでライブをしているようでした。
泣いている人もいれば、クラウドサーフィンをしている人、踊っている人もいて、TMCのショーで感じるすべての感情が、無限に増幅されたようでした。
その後に感じたリスペクトと優しさは、まるで現実とは思えないほどで、今までにない経験でした。東京で僕たちを観に来てくれた皆さんに心から感謝しています。できるだけ早く戻ってきたいです。たくさんのリスペクトと愛を込めて。

(Q): Reflecting on your trip to Japan. Prior to your show, questions were floating around: How would the fans react? Are they quiet? Would they mosh? Are encores appropriate? Everyone was appropriately excited and attentive.
Looking back one week later (!), how would you describe the gap between your expectation and result of your first show in Japan? What surprised you the most about your Japanese fans?

James - Singer
(A): The only thing I knew to expect was that it was going to be silent after the applause! This part of it is very different to other audiences, but that’s cool, it makes it unique. There were some great mosh pits and the energy was truly electric, screams and hollers louder than I’d heard before.
Although I was more excited to play in Japan than I’d ever been before, my expectations were still exceeded. Our fans in Japan are amazing and the energy and electricity at the show was surreal. It was cool to meet everyone afterward and that everyone took the time to queue up to say hi and take a photo … some of the gifts we received were so beautiful and thoughtful. Really mad amazing night.
I completely fell in love with Tokyo in the 4 days we were there, not only for its endlessness but I felt a sense of home there, a feeling I very rarely get in new places.
It’s fair to say we have just seen a small window of what is possible in Japan and we are more excited than ever to get back as soon as possible and play some of the legendary festivals and bigger venues across Tokyo and the entire country.
Much love to all of you and thank you for making our first trip and first show so unforgettable. We will return the favour every time we play.

Damien Tuit - Guitar
(A): I had heard in the past that Japanese audiences are very generous of spirit but even with that I was not prepared for such a warm welcome from somewhere so far away from home. I was quite pleasantly surprised by their vigorous and at times wild energy throughout the show. We really couldn’t have hoped for a better beginning to our Japanese journey and are very excited to return to play some more songs sometime soon!

Gabriel Paschal Blake - Bass
(A): Never having been in Japan, I arrived with a pretty open mind of what it was going to be like. I had heard that perhaps the Japan crowd was perhaps more lowkey and attentive but in actuality it was an explosion of joy and energy. It was like playing a show in Dublin. People were crying, crowdsurfing and dancing. It was all the emotions that we’re used to at a TMC show but multiplied infinitely.
The respect and kindness we felt afterwards was unreal and unprecedented. We are so thankful to everyone in Tokyo that came out to see us. We want to return as soon as we can. So much respect and love,
